Phase one Epic upgrades

Our Epic system received an upgrade in early March 2010. These upgrades include new icons, features and browsing applications that help make the Epic system more user-friendly. Users also are now able to customize their views with hyperspace themes, depending on their personal preferences.

Training documents and activities related to this upgrade have been added online to KDMC University to prepare team members for the new look and added features. Please log in to KDMCU, select “Catalog” then “Epic Upgrade” to view the following:

•   Demonstration/Open Lab scheduled sessions for department key users (super users) – attendance encouraged
•   Demonstration/Open Lab scheduled sessions for all team members who use Epic (end users) – attendance encouraged
•   Epic Upgrade E-Learning Module for all (non-pharmacy) team members who use Epic – required
•   Epic Prescription Upgrade Module specific for pharmacy team members – required
•   Training support documents including a calendar of training events and an instruction sheet for accessing the “Playground” environment now are updated to reflect the appearance of the upgraded system
•   A “Unit Handout” document outlining the key features of the upgrade now is available

Phase two of the Epic upgrades is scheduled for June 2010.
