Pre-Admission Testing now performed in South Shore
For added convenience for patients in Greenup, Lewis and Carter counties in Kentucky, as well as Scioto and Pike counties in Ohio, Pre-Admission testing (PAT) now is available at the King’s Daughters South Shore Family Care Center. The center is located on U.S. 23 in South Shore. This new service allows patients from outlying areas to avoid the drive to Ashland for their pre-admission readiness testing. Grief Support Group at KDMC begins April 8

New Wheelchair Clinic in Pikeville assists patients with mobility problems
Beginning Wednesday, March 24, King’s Daughters Medical Center will begin offering a new service called a “wheelchair clinic” for patients who would benefit from having a power wheelchair or scooter. Services will be provided at the King’s Daughters Medical Specialties- Pikeville clinic, at 5425 North Mayo Trail, Pikeville. The clinic subsequently will take place the fourth Wednesday of each month. Appointments are required and can be made by calling (606) 432-2269.

KDMC Nurse Goes Extra Mile to Help Homeless Patient
We’ve heard it many times…"The purpose of life is a life of
purpose."
And Joe Stevens, a registered nurse in the King’s Daughters Medical Center Emergency Department, considers his profession “a calling.” So, when a homeless man recently was brought to KDMC by paramedics, who found him lying on the ground – no socks, no coat and hypothermic – Stevens took action.

King’s Daughters provides free stroke screenings March 2
King’s Daughters Medical Center is providing free stroke screenings Tuesday, March 2, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the KDMC Cardiology Clinic, located at 945 29th St., Ashland. The screenings will include total cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, blood oxygen and the Bruits test (a trained medical professional uses a stethoscope to listen to the blood flow in the arteries in the neck to check for possible blockage). KDMC Neurologist Henry Goodman, M.D., will be at the event to conduct the Bruits tests and discuss overall test results with participants. Fasting is not required but appointments are needed and can be made by calling 1-888-377-5362.

KDMC Offers Free Screening at Waverly
