Healthy Heart, EKG screening offered at “Hug Your Heart Day”

ASHLAND, Ky. – King’s Daughters Medical Center is offering a free healthy heart and EKG screening beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14,S on the KDMC Auxiliary Mobile Health Unit at the Jackson YMCA, 594 E. Main St.

The screenings are being offered as part of the YMCA’s  “Hug Your Heart Day.” Appointments are not required. Screening results will be read by Kentucky Heart Institute cardiologist Sriharsha Velury, M.D.

The screening includes an EKG, total cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and blood oxygen levels, and is sponsored by King’s Daughters in cooperation with the Kentucky Heart Foundation. Appointments are not required; participants will be screened on a first-come, first-served basis. No fasting is not required.

Special program focuses on women’s heart health

ASHLAND, Ky. – Women and men are different in almost everything, including heart health. But women don’t always realize how different their hearts are – or what their actual risk of developing heart disease is.  

A special heart month program – You’ve Gotta Have Heart – will address those differences and more. The program is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at the Roy Collier F. Community Center in Inez, Ky.

The event kicks off with a free healthy heart screening, sponsored by King’s Daughters and the Kentucky Heart Foundation. A heart healthy lunch, catered by Four Seasons Catering will follow. Cardiologist Lynn Preston, DO, will finish up the event with a special presentation on women and their hearts, beginning at 12:15 p.m.

Free healthy heart and EKG screening Feb. 10 in Maysville, Ky.

ASHLAND, Ky. – King’s Daughters Medical Center is offering a free healthy heart and EKG screening beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at King’s Daughters Medical Specialties – Maysville, 191 Wal-Mart Way, next to the Dollar Tree.

Screening results will be read by Kentucky Heart Institute physician assistant J.D. Dalton, PA-C.

The screening includes an EKG, total cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and blood oxygen levels, and is sponsored by King’s Daughters in cooperation with the Kentucky Heart Foundation. Appointments are required and may be made by calling 1-888-377-KDMC (5362). No fasting is required.

Free carotid screening Feb. 10 in Paintsville

ASHLAND, Ky. – King’s Daughters Medical Center, in conjunction with the Kentucky Heart Foundation, is offering free carotid artery screenings, beginning at noon Friday, Feb. 10, at the Kentucky Heart Institute offices in Paintsville, 313 West St., Suite 2.

The screening consists of an ultrasound exam of the carotid arteries to check for blockages and/or weaknesses. The carotid arteries are major blood vessels that serve the brain. Blockages in the carotids can lead to stroke.

ASHLAND, Ky. – King’s Daughters Medical Center is offering a free healthy heart and EKG screening beginning at noon Thursday, Feb. 9, at King’s Daughters Medical Specialties – Proctorville, 6276 State Route 7.

Screening results will be read by Kentucky Heart Institute cardiologist Tina Sias, MD.

The screening includes an EKG, total cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and blood oxygen levels, and is sponsored by King’s Daughters in cooperation with the Kentucky Heart Foundation. Appointments are required and may be made by calling 1-888-377-KDMC (5362). No fasting is required.

King's Daughters Physicians achieve Sleep Medicine Certification

Ashland, Ky. — KDMC physicians, Mohamad R. Abul-Khoudoud, MD, pulmonologist; Pramit Bhasin, MD, neurologist; and Gregory Stark, MD, pulmonologist, have achieved Sleep Medicine Certification.

Sleep Medicine Certification, jointly developed by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Family Medicine, the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Otolaryngology, is designed to recognize excellence among physicians who care for patients with sleep problems and specific sleep disorders.

Registration open for free Heart Scan on Jan. 26

Ashland, Ky. — King's Daughters Medical Center, in collaboration with the Kentucky Heart Foundation, is offering free Heart Scans to eligible area residents. Heart Scans are for individuals who may be at risk for heart disease and not know it.

The screening will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Center for Advanced Imaging, 2225 Central Ave., Ashland, Ky.
