King’s Daughters Medical Center now is officially licensed as a 465-bed medical center. KDMC received the final notice in late July from Kentucky’s Office of the Inspector General within the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. This enables the medical center to increase licensed inpatient bed capacity from its previous 385 to 465, making it the largest hospital in the Tri-State region and the 9th largest hospital in Kentucky in terms of licensed acute care beds.

Cardiothoracic surgeon Juan MacHannaford, M.D., has joined the medical staff at King’s Daughters Medical Center (KDMC). Dr. MacHannaford comes to KDMC from the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio, and joins the nationally-ranked cardiovascular surgery team at KDMC that includes Robert Fried, M.D., and Marcos Nores, M.D.

The King’s Daughters Medical Center (KDMC) Blood Bank has been granted reaccreditation by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB). Accreditation follows an intensive on-site assessment by specially trained AABB inspectors and establishes that the level of technical and administrative performance within the facility meets or exceeds the established standards.
