ASHLAND, KY — The King’s Daughters Breast Care Center recently completed its annual mammography accreditation review from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Food and Drug Administration.
All U.S. mammography facilities undergo annual inspections, as required by the
Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), established by Congress in 1994. To earn accreditation, programs are evaluated in six major areas: equipment performance, technologist quality control, medical physicist survey, personnel qualifications, medical reports and outcome audits.
Located in the King’s Daughters Center for Advanced Imaging, the Breast Care Center offers a complete range of services including digital mammograms, minimally invasive breast biopsies and ultrasound. KDMC also provides mobile mammography services throughout the Tri-State.
Radiologist Robert Penkava, M.D., serves as medical director of the Breast Care Center, and Doretha Pridemore serves as clinical supervisor.
The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammograms for women beginning at age 40. For more information about mammography services at King’s Daughters, please call (606) 326-2742 or toll-free 1-877-304-1935.
