ASHLAND, KY — King’s Daughters honored medical staff presidents at an unveiling ceremony Monday, October 22, on the first floor of the Center for Advanced Care.
Local artisan Melanie Osborne of The Pendleton Art Center created a total of 41 oil paintings, one for each medical staff president that has served at King’s Daughters since 1959 – the first year the position was introduced. The portraits are now displayed beside the entrance to the Parkview Café.
“Serving as president of the medical staff is no small commitment. It is a role that is critical to the overall success of the medical center,” says Fred Jackson, KDMC President/CEO. “These portraits will honor physicians for their commitment to serving both our hospital and their medical colleagues.”
Many past medical staff presidents attended the ceremony, including several who traveled from as far away as Arizona and Wyoming. Bill Roland also was present to represent his father William Roland, M.D., the first medical staff president.
Infectious diseases physician Cecilia Gaynor, M.D., currently serves as medical staff president. Family practitioner Kevin Willis, M.D., will accept the two-year position next year.
