ASHLAND, KY — King’s Daughters is pleased to announce Mary Adams has accepted the position of Lung Health Program specialist.
For patients with lung cancer, navigating medical appointments while coping with physical and emotional concerns can be stressful, and sometimes intimidating. The Lung Health specialist coordinates tests and procedures, enabling patients to concentrate solely on restoring their health.
Adams also communicates with physicians when patients have an abnormal chest X-ray that requires additional follow-up.
“Should tests reveal lung disease, the patient may need to consult with variety of specialists, including medical and radiation oncologists, pulmonologists and thoracic surgeons,” Adams says. “Our program helps reduce patients’ stress by scheduling their appointments for testing and treatment. Our program als is very involved in patient and family education and support for symptom management.”
A 20-year KDMC team member, Adams has devoted most of her career to critical care nursing. She most recently served as Intensive Care Unit patient care manager. Adams earned a Bachelor’s of Nursing at Graceland University, Lamoni, Iowa; and a Master’s of Nursing from Bellarmine University in Louisville.
