Looking for something fun to do with the kids on long, hot summer days? King’s Daughters Medical Center and the Kyova Mall are offering fun and educational activities, including the free summer movie series, inflatables, games and educational displays.
The activities will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, June 15 through July 28 near the mall food court. The activities are targeted for preschool through school-age children and include games to stimulate the brain using matching and memory skills, balance, eye-hand coordination, and navigating through an obstacle course. Education about stroke signs and symptoms, risk factors, and what to do when someone is having a stroke also will be provided.
In addition to the King’s Daughters activities, the Kyova Mall and Phoenix Theatre are providing inflatables and free movies for kids. King’s Daughters recently earned certification as a primary advanced stroke center through The Joint Commission. This means King’s Daughters follows national guidelines and standards for the care of stroke patients, and actively educates the community about stroke. In addition to teaching adults about the risks, signs and symptoms of stroke, it is important for young people to learn about healthy lifestyles. Children can have a positive influence on their parents and grandparents.
