Ashland, Ky.— Congratulations to Wendy Fletcher, DNP, APRN, FNP, for being the first King’s Daughters advanced practitioner to earn a Doctorate of Nursing Practice. Wendy is a Family Nurse Practitioner at King’s Daughters — Health Plus in Morehead and earned her DNP degree from Texas Christian University.
Wendy said earning this degree allows her to translate existing research into practice and work in sync with providers to improve nursing practice and impact healthcare outcomes for patients. DNP graduates typically impact nursing through active engagement in the service/practice setting.
Her coursework focused on understanding and managing the complexity of the healthcare environment, using systematic tools such as statistics and decision models for determining the best evidence-based interventions, developing expertise in translational research, actively engaging in healthcare policy and politics and becoming informed regarding emerging sciences and technology.
The program is fully accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education and designed to prepare students to assume clinical leadership positions in a variety of healthcare, business, government and educational organizations.
“Texas Christian’s DNP program is designed to encourage you to use the knowledge and skills you gain while in a doctoral program along with the expertise and credentials of your advanced practice role to maximize nursing’s contribution in improving healthcare outcomes around the world,” she said.
