ASHLAND, Ky. – Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood,
and more than 38,000 blood donations are required each day. One donation can
save the lives of up to three people, and 80 percent of blood donations given
to the Red Cross are collected at mobile community blood drives.
Blood drive hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, at KDMC’s Health Education Center, lower level of
the Lexington Avenue parking garage. Donors will receive a free gift and
refreshments will be available.
Medical history, recent medications and other factors can affect donor
eligibility. To learn if you are qualified to donate blood, please call the American
Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE LIFE (448-3543) or go online to redcrossblood.org and
look under eligibility requirements.
