ASHLAND, Ky. – King’s Daughters Medical Center’s Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at KDMC’s Health Education Center in the lower level of the Lexington Avenue parking garage.

The group, which is for parents who have experienced the loss of a child during pregnancy or shortly following, meets the second Thursday of each month.

“Our group welcomes anyone who has lost a child early in pregnancy, shortly after birth, or any time in between,” said KDMC Labor and Delivery Unit nurse Cathie Whitt, who serves as program coordinator. “It’s a highly emotional time for these parents, and our group can help them move forward.”

Whitt said the group provides caring support for mothers and fathers, who are encouraged to share their stories with other parents. Support group topics include:

  • grief and bonding
  • ways of saying goodbye
  • sharing remembrances
  • communicating with partners, kids and friends
  • getting through the holidays.

Reservations are not required to attend the support group. To learn more about the program, please call Whitt at (606) 408-4546.
