ASHLAND, KY — With the approach of National Hospital Hospitality House Week coming July 22-28, the King’s Daughters Hospitality House would like to thank the community for another successful year.
Since opening in June 2005, the Hospitality House has provided safe, comfortable lodging for nearly 2,500 guests, who include families of critically patients hospitalized at KDMC, as well as some outpatients. Some of the guests live in states far from the Commonwealth. These include residents from California, Texas, Florida, Delaware and Illinois—26 states in all.
Located on the corner of Central Avenue and 22nd Street, the Hospitality House provides families—especially those with limited resources—a warm, inviting place to stay while their loved ones are hospitalized. The residence features 13 guest rooms with private baths, as well as a common kitchen and dining area, a living room and laundry facilities.
Guests of the Hospitality House include adult family members or caregivers of either critically ill patients receiving care at KDMC, or qualifying outpatients receiving extended therapeutic care. In nearly all cases, guests live outside a 30-mile radius of Ashland.
More than 25 volunteers serve at the Hospitality House, and the medical center is currently recruiting volunteers to assist for evening and weekend operations.
To schedule a tour of the Hospitality House, or to inquire about volunteering, please call Jane Blankenship, Volunteer Services Director at (606) 326-4423.
