Take control of heart failure

Having heart failure doesn’t mean you can’t lead a normal, active life. By taking control, and understanding and carefully following your treatment plan, you can live successfully with heart failure.

King’s Daughters Medical Center nurse practitioner Donna Holbrook will address these issues – and more – when the Heart Failure Support Group meets from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in the lower level conference room 4 at King’s Daughters Office Park, 835 Central Ave., Ashland.

The support group is free and open to anyone, and their loved ones, with heart failure. Physician referral is not required, although RSVPs are requested. Please call
(606) 408-6000 or (606) 408-6462 to reserve your seat. Each meeting includes both a formal presentation and an opportunity for members to share their experiences and help one another.

“Along with following your treatment plan, we can help you learn to overcome common heart failure obstacles and lead a full life,” said heart failure nurse Barbara Davis, who facilitates the meetings.

The focus of the next Heart Failure Support Group meeting will be “Keeping Active When Exercise is Limited” and will take place Tuesday, May 17.
