Portsmouth open house

Saturdays in October are all about family, fun and football. And on Saturday, Oct. 16, residents of Portsmouth and surrounding communities will have an opportunity to combine family fun with health as King’s Daughters Medical Center and the Kentucky Heart Institute sponsor an open house.

Activities kick off at 10 a.m. at King’s Daughters Medical Specialties – Portsmouth, 2001 Scioto Trail, and include:

  • Free flu shots for the first 200 people, provided by King’s Daughters Urgent Care;
  • Free healthy heart screening, including blood pressure, total cholesterol, blood glucose and blood oxygen.
  • Free children’s activities and health education;
  • Speakers on diabetes and heart disease, electrical disturbances of the heart, and the patient-physician-nurse partnership;
  • Screenings (by appointment only) for peripheral vascular, carotid and abdominal aorta disease; 
  • Education on heart attacks, cardiac catheterization, minimally invasive heart surgery and King’s Daughters Medical Transport;
  • Tasty tailgate food; 
  • The opportunity to win nice prizes, including a pair of tickets to The Ohio State University-Purdue home game on Oct. 23.
