KDMC honors EMS with cookout May 18 during National EMS Week

The 37th annual Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week is celebrated throughout the nation May 16-22. Local emergency medical services personnel will be honored by King’s Daughters Medical Center and Air Methods Kentucky 10 air medical service Tuesday, May 18. The event will take place 4-7 p.m. at the Park Place building, 1701 Central Ave., Ashland, featuring grilled hamburgers and hotdogs with all the trimmings, gifts and presentations. About 100 EMS personnel are expected to attend to enjoy the food and fellowship.

“Our annual cookout is a way to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's first responders,” said Tracey Crawford, a King’s Daughters Emergency Department nurse who serves as EMS liaison for the medical center. “The EMS companies are an essential partner with the medical center – and they have helped us make a difference in the two focus areas of heart attack and stroke.” Crawford credits EMS in helping the medical center meet national standards of care for chest pain and stroke patients. King’s Daughters has an accredited Chest Pain Center and an accredited stroke program.
