FORTUNE announced Thursday that for the third consecutive year, King’s Daughters Medical Center has been named to Fortune magazine’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For! KDMC ranked number 50 on the list of employers throughout all industries.

"I am honored our team believes King’s Daughters is a great place to work," said KDMC president/CEO Fred Jackson. Technology, facilities and training are all important to the Medical Center; but in reality, it is our more than 5,000 team members, medical staff, and volunteers, who seek to provide World-Class Care to all of our patients,” said Jackson.

"At KDMC, we remain committed to creating a great place for healthcare professionals to work, patients to receive care, physicians to practice medicine and volunteers to give of their time," said Larry Higgins, Senior Vice President of Organization Effectiveness/Chief Leadership Officer. "The entire KDMC team continually advances our organization toward our vision to provide World-Class Care In Our Communities."

To select the 100 Best Companies, FORTUNE partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the results of the Institute's Trust Index survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. The survey asks questions related to their attitudes about the management's credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The other third of the scoring is based on the company’s responses to the Institute’s Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring, communication, and diversity. FORTUNE gave extra points this year to organizations that were successfully managing the economic downturn.

This year FORTUNE gave special consideration to companies who continue to perform well in a difficult economy. FORTUNE deputy managing editor Hank Gilman says, "The most important considerations for this year’s list were hiring and the ways in which companies are helping their employees weather the recession. All 100 companies on our list are currently hiring, many of them aggressively, leading to more than 96,000 open job positions expected in the next year."

King's Daughters is a healthy, growing, high performing organization with the best healthcare professionals in the Industry," said Jackson. "We are proud to congratulate our entire team for building a culture of excellence through individual hard work and extraordinary teamwork."
