KDMC Diabetes Education Center Relocates to Medical Plaza A

ASHLAND, KY  — The King’s Daughters Diabetes Education Center has moved to a new location on the medical center campus. The program now can be found in Suite 18A on the fifth floor of Medical Plaza A, 617 23rd Street, Ashland.

KDMC’s Diabetes Education program helps patients learn to take control and manage their condition, whether they have Type I, Type II, or gestational diabetes. Classes are offered in both group and individual sessions. A physician referral is required to participate in the program, which begins with a one-on-one consultation with a registered dietitian, followed by a series of four group sessions that cover:

  • diabetes disease process
  • nutritional management
  • physical activity
  • medications
  • monitoring blood sugar
  • information about the latest diabetic supplies and equipment
  • prevention, detection, and treatment of acute and chronic complications
  • diabetes management during pregnancy
