New Pediatrics Unit To Open Oct. 19

Pediatrics Unit Oct 09King's Daughters Medical Center will open its new Pediatrics Unit Monday, Oct. 19. The unit remains on the main hospital's third floor, but is moving to a new location. The new unit has received a complete makeover and features 22 private beds.

KDMC’s new Pediatrics Unit can be a source of comfort for patients and parents alike. Many pediatrics patients stay at the medical center for respiratory illnesses, such as flu and pneumonia. We also help patients with minor injuries and those recovery from surgery. Most patients stay in the Pediatrics Unit three to five days.

To help make coming to the medical center a little more entertaining, the new Pediatrics Unit has a jungle theme. Decorative paw prints lead visitors down the remodeled hallways. In addition to great nursing care, the unit has parent-friendly hours and special touches like a parent meal to accompany each child's meal.

“The new Pediatrics Unit has been a great collaboration between our nursing staff and the Facilities designers,” Chad Allen, Pediatrics nurse manager, said. “With the busy winter months ahead, it should be a great comfort to our patients to have a new unit where they can rest, recuperate and get the medical care they need.”
