KDMC Blood Bank achieves reaccreditation

ASHLAND, KY — The King’s Daughters Medical Center (KDMC) Blood Bank has been granted reaccreditation by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB). Accreditation follows an intensive on-site assessment by specially trained AABB inspectors and establishes that the level of technical and administrative performance within the facility meets or exceeds the established standards.

The accreditation program contributes to the quality and safety of collecting, processing, testing, distributing and administering blood and blood products,” said pathologist Katalin Kovacs, M.D., medical director of the KDMC Laboratory. “It is a voluntary process that demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement and sustaining the highest possible level of patient care.”

The King’s Daughters Blood Bank provides blood and blood products for patient care and surgeries at KDMC.
