The Team Members of King's Daughters Medical Center heard the call this week from the CAReS (Community Assistance and Referral Service) that 540 families and 160 children were still in need this Christmas season. On Wednesday, the team raised $5,000 and contributed it to CAReS.

During the Medical Center's annual free Holiday Meal on Wednesday, KDMC Team Members contributed $1,636. The Medical Center matched that amount. In addition, new President/CEO Kristie Whitlatch also made a personal match for the same amount. A few last-minute donations brought the total to $5,000.

"CAReS is one of our long-term partners, and helps with us with our own Adopt-A-Family program each year," Whitlatch said. "This year, our team adopted more than 202 families. Our donation drive this week was in addition to that. KDMC is a part of the fabric of this community, and we are pleased to give back to the community that places so much faith in us. We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year."
