Interventional Radiologist Pho Nguyen, M.D., has joined the medical staff at King’s Daughters Medical Center (KDMC).
Dr. Nguyen comes to KDMC from Cincinnati, Ohio, where he has practiced and taught since 2006. He joins the physicians of Tri-State Radiology, who provide radiologic services exclusively at KDMC. As an interventional radiologist, Dr. Nguyen has special training to diagnose and treat illnesses using miniature tools and imaging guidance. He joins fellow interventional radiologist Wes Lewis, M.D., as the second such specialist at KDMC.
Dr. Nguyen recently performed a new procedure, TIPS (transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt), at KDMC. TIPS is a life-saving procedure to improve blood flow and prevent hemorrhage in patients with severe liver dysfunction.
A 2000 medical school graduate of the University of Cincinnati, he continued his education with an internship at Jewish Hospital, Cincinnati, in 2001; a residency at the University of Cincinnati in 2005; and a fellowship in 2006 at Duke University with an emphasis in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Nguyen is board certified by the American Board of Radiology, with added qualifications in vascular and interventional radiology.
