King’s Daughters Medical Center will offer free, private consultations with a surgical weight loss professional beginning 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, on the KDMC Mobile Health Unit at the Martin County Library, 180 E. Main St., Inez.

KDMC’s surgical weight loss program has earned all three major certifications: Clinical Sciences Institute, BlueCross/BlueShield Blue Distinction and has been rated a Center of Excellence designation from the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Surgical weight loss or bariatric surgery is often the only effective therapy for morbid obesity and its complications. Weight loss can be achieved through a variety of surgical procedures: lap-assisted gastric band, roux-en-y gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy.

The free consultation includes a body mass index (BMI) measurement. Appointments are required by calling 1-888-377-KDMC.
