Grayson Family Care Center extends hours, goes to 7-day coverage

Beginning Monday, March 3, the Grayson Family Care Centers is extending its hours to help meet the communities healthcare needs. The hours will be:

  • 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
Appointments requested for up until 8:30 p.m.; walk-ins welcome after 8:30 p.m. for patients with medical conditions requiring immediate attention
  • 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday
    Appointments requested
  • 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday
No appointment necessary; Sunday hours are for patients with medical conditions requiring immediate attention

When the new facilities was dedicated last spring, King’s Daughters President/CEO Fred Jackson pledged if the demand for longer hours was there, KDMC would extend its hours of operations. Since then, the center has been very busy, seeing 26,000 patients annually. The Grayson center is the first in KDMCís network of 12 centers to offer late evening, and offer regular Sunday hours.

“Our patients tell us they would prefer to come to the Family Care Center in the evenings and on the weekends as opposed to an emergency room for minor illness and injuries. We are pleased to be able increase our hours to help meet this need,” says Grayson family physician, Bhawan Yamraj, M.D.

Dr. Yamraj says it is important for any patient who is experiencing a life-threatening emergency such as a heart attack or a stroke to call 911 immediately; however most illness and injuries can be treated at the Grayson Family Care Center. These include: illnesses like colds, flu, migraines, allergies, asthma, fevers, insect bites, minor burns and cuts, rashes, vomiting, diarrhea sinus and urinary tract infections. Injuries than can be treated include strains, sprains, burns and cuts requiring stitches.

The center’s address and telephone numbers are:

King’s Daughters Medical Specialties
609 North Carol Malone Blvd.
Grayson, Ky. 41143
toll-free 1.877.474.7892

The Family Care Center is just one part of the Medical Specialties - Grayson facility. The building also is home to Carter County’s only MRI services, and offers CT scans, X-rays and laboratory testing as well. A cardiology office with physicians from both cardiology practices who practice at KDMC, Cumberland Cardiology and SV Cardiology, also is located in the building. The cardiology office offers regular physician appointments, along with stress testing and nuclear imaging, two common cardiac-related tests. The telephone number for Grayson Cardiology is 606.474.2235.

The newly extended hours apply to the Family Care Center; all other services will remain with regular office hours.
