Surgeon Roderick Tompkins, M.D., now offering da Vinci minimally invasive surgery

General Surgeon Roderick Tompkins, M.D., recently became certified in the da Vinci Surgical System, a minimally invasive surgical robot that allows surgeons to use precise, delicate maneuvers through extremely small incisions in the body. Dr. Tompkins is using the da Vinci system for colon surgery, hernia repair, gall bladder removal and more.

Ashland, Ky. – Flu vaccinations for the 2012-2013 flu season are now available at King’s Daughters Family Care, Urgent Care and Medical Specialties centers throughout the region. 
 
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone six months and older get a flu vaccine each year, as soon as the vaccinations are available. “It is especially important that individuals at high risk of developing serious complications be vaccinated,” said Lisa Fritz, KDMC infection control coordinator. “High risk individuals include those with asthma, diabetes and chronic lung disease, as well as pregnant women and people 65 and older,” Fritz said.
