Patient Billing Office

Our Patient Billing Office assists patients, insurance companies, physicians' offices and hospital departments by managing patient accounts with:

  • KDMC
  • KDMC Home Health
  • KDMC Occupational Medicine
  • KDMC Family Care Centers

The Patient Billing staff file insurance claims for our patients. To help us provide the best service possible:

  • Present your insurance card at the time of registration.
  • Prior to admission, if possible, please review your insurance carrier's requirements for pre-certification and/or pre-authorization. Insurance carriers often reduce benefit payments if their protocol is not followed.

Payment for costs not covered by your insurance plan will be billed to you after the insurance company has paid its share. See our section on understanding your bill.

In addition to your hospital bill, you may receive a direct bill from other physicians for professional services such as radiology or anesthesiology. These providers may or may not be participants in your insurance plan. Please consult your member handbook, or contact your insurance carrier if you have questions about your coverage.

Financial Assistance Policy

For patients interested in financial assistance, our Patient Billing team can provide many options. We can adjust a patient's bill by 40 to 100 percent, based on the 2005 Poverty Guidelines, provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

To begin the process, please complete our Financial Assistance Determination form, available for download in PDF format. Then contact our office at the number listed below to make an appointment to discuss your account. Please bring the completed form with you.
