Here are ways patients and families may be involved:
Faculty Advisors share with Team Members their healthcare stories, focusing on what worked and what could be improved. This position may attend team meetings.
Information Advisors help review patient communication materials to ensure they’re thorough and patient friendly. These advisors will have a hand in modifying brochures and patient education.
Team Advisors are leaders on projects with a defined beginning and end. This position could include improvements to how information is exchanged between caregivers and patients.
Advisory Council Members develop new programs, services and policies, and identifies ways to improve the comfort of patients and families. This 12- to 24-month role requires participation in monthly meetings, each about 90 minutes. There also may be assignments between meetings.
