The Heart and Vascular Recovery Unit provides specialized care for patients recovering from cardiac and vascular procedures, such as cardiac or vascular catheterization.

Heart and Vascular Surgery Unit 

The Heart and Vascular Surgery Unit cares for patients who have undergone a variety of complex heart procedures, including heart bypass, valve repair/replacement, lung surgery, and vascular surgery.

Patients with congestive heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia also may be cared for on the unit.

Heart and Vascular Step Down Unit

The Heart and Vascular Step Down Unit cares for patients with heart attack, congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia and other heart problems. The HVSD also prepares patients for procedures such as cardiac catheterization, pacemaker implantation and cardioversion. The unit includes 28 telemetry beds, which allows continuous monitoring of the patient’s heart rate and rhythm.

Heart and Vascular Intermediate Unit

The Heart and Vascular Intermediate Unit provides care for patients who require critical care nursing and close monitoring, including heart failure patients, patients with stable balloon pumps and patients recovering from vascular procedures such as abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, peripheral vascular angioplasty or bypass, thrombectomies and carotid surgery/stenting.

Chest Pain Unit

The Chest Pain Unit  serves as the entry point for patients suffering signs/symptoms of a heart attack. The majority of chest pain patients come to the unit through the Emergency Department, although some are sent directly from the physician’s office.

Chest pain patients are carefully evaluated according to Society for Chest Pain Center and American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association protocols.
