Quality Measures

Our quality measures are one of the key priorities in delivering a positive healthcare experience at KDMC. While every patient is different, these measures are an objective look at how we perform in the clinical arena.

Treatment of Heart Attack

• % of patients given aspirin at arrival
• % of patients given aspirin at discharge
• % of patients given ACE inhibitor or ARB for LVSD
• % of patients given tobacco cessation advice/counseling
• % of patients given beta blocker at discharge
• % of patients give PCI within 90 minutes of arrival

Treatment of Heart Failure

• % of patients given discharge instructions
• % of patients evaluated for LVS function
• % of patients given ACE inhibitor or ARB for LVSD
• % of patients given tobacco cessation advice/counseling

Treatment of Cardiac Patients

• % of surgery patients taking beta blockers before coming to hospital who were kept on beta blocker before/after surery

Treatment of Blood Clots

• % of surgery patients with recommended venous thromoboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis ordered
• % of surgery patients with recommended VTE prophylaxis ordered anytime from arrival to 48 hours after surgery

Treatment of Pneumonia

• % of patients assessed and given pneumonia vaccine
• % of patients whose initial Emergency Department blood culture was performed prior to first dose of antibiotics
• % of patients given tobacco cessation advice/counseling
• % of patients given initial antibiotics within six hours of arrival
• % of patients given the most appropriate initial antibiotic
• % of patients assessed and given influenza vaccine 

Proactive Management of Potential Infections

• % of surgery patients given the right antibiotic to help prevent infection
• % of surgery patients whose preventive antibiotics were stopped within 24 hours after surgery
• % of all heart surgery patients whose blood sugar was kept under good control following surgery
• % of surgery patients whose body hair was removed using clippers or removal cream
• % of surgery patients given an antibiotic within one hour before surgery
