Specialty Nursing at King’s Daughters
King's Daughters specialty nursing units focus on delivering individualized care for the needs of special patient populations.
The Behavioral Medicine Unit
Cares for patients with a primary psychiatric diagnosis and specializes in stabilization of acute episodes. Patients attend daily group and/or individual therapy sessions. Family involvement and “self help” are strongly encouraged. Our team works with the patient, family, and other healthcare professionals to develop an appropriate course of treatment.
All of our therapies are designed to help the patient return home and resume their lives as quickly as possible. Discharge planners and case managers help plan and coordinate care following hospitalization.

Neuroscience Care Center (NSCC)
Specializes in caring for patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, multiple sclerosis, neuropathy and more. The unit also provides care for patients getting ready for or recovering from neurosurgical procedures.
Surgical Orthopedics Unit (ORTHO)
Cares for patients who are preparing to undergo surgical procedures, as well as those who are recovering from surgery or other procedures. Patients undergoing joint replacement (hip, knee, shoulder), orthopedic back surgery and other orthopedic procedures are cared for on this unit. Because physical therapy/rehabilitation is an important part of the recovery process, the unit provides a special “gym” where patients and therapists can work together.
