Emergency Department Fellowship
About the Fellowship
The ED Fellowship is a 12-week course which includes both classroom and precepted clinical experience. Classroom time lasts the first four weeks of the fellowship — three 12-hour days each week consisting of eight hours of lecture and four hours of clinical time in the ED. The remaining eight weeks consist entirely of precepted clinical experience.
About the ED
The Emergency Department at KDMC contains 45-beds, including two trauma bay beds and ten Express Care beds. This fast-paced department provides care for all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics, and treats a wide variety of diagnoses ranging from simple sprains to multi-system injuries.
With 120 team members on staff, team nursing is the model of care in the ED. Each team consists of a team leader, R.N.s and an assigned CMT. We provide flexible scheduling with 12-hour shifts and two required weekends per month. Staffing is flexed for adequate coverage during peak hours and seasons. Schedules are available one month in advance and a request book is available for requesting personal days off.
Certifications required are BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC/BTLS, NVCI and Hazmat. The ED Educator will arrange for your courses.
