About Perioperative Nursing
Perioperative Nursing is a purposeful and dynamic process. As a patient advocate in the operating room setting, the perioperative nurse builds on the nursing process to individualize care based on surgical procedures, surgeon preference and patient condition.
Perioperative nursing is an specialty that requires a broad base of knowledge and experience specific to the surgical patient.
About the Fellowship
The perioperative nursing fellowship consists of sixteen weeks of intensive classroom and clinical experience. The nurse will participate in all aspects of perioperative nursing.
The nurse will join the surgical team on a full time basis and have the opportunity to work in most subspecialties.
The perioperative nursing fellowship is designed to prepare the professional registered nurse for entry-level, independent practice of perioperative nursing with a focus in intraoperative care of patients having general surgery and other selected specialty procedures.
