Community Training Center Coordinator

Job Duties:

Plans, organizes and executes emergency cardiac care (ECC) courses for the American Heart Association (AHA) Community Training Center (CTC). Manages training center files and prepares ECC course certification cards as is appropriate for the course taught. Develops positive collaborative relationships with instructors and community training center sub-sites. Monitors training center courses for a high level of quality under the American Heart Association guidelines. Instructs courses as needed. Serves as coordinator and instructor for American Heart Association BLS, ACLS and PALS courses. Collaborates with the Continuing Nursing Education Administrator to ensure applicable programs meet the requirements set forth by the Kentucky Board of Nursing for continued education approval. Serves as a leader handling all aspects of the CTC as assigned. Schedules courses for KDMC team members insuring adequate number to meet medical center needs. Schedules instructors for KDMC courses, insuring an adequate number to meet AHA student to instructor ratios. Prepares written follow-up communication or documentation for courses/programs. Prepares course certification cards and mails or delivers to instructors for the training center territory. Attains and maintains regional facility status in each discipline (BLS, ACLS, PALS). Monitors instructor records for compliance with AHA requirements. Accepts requests for KDMC participation in community events. Completes appropriate forms and submits at staff meetings with recommendations for final approval. Orders supplies and stock as well as special order request, maintaining adequate stock of supplies to meet training center needs. Engages in a variety of contacts outside the Medical Center in order to obtain or relay information, arrange meetings, etc. Participates in screening events when needed and/or in the absence of volunteers. Meets all deadlines and budgetary guidelines. Solicits and coordinates volunteers as required.



Qualifications:

R.N. or paramedic with 3 - 5 years community health experience, Bachelors degree in business or health related field with 3 - 5 years healthcare experience. Teaching experience in AHA emergency cardiac care courses with 3 - 5 years experience and regional faculty status must be achieved in one year. BLS, ACLS and PALS instructor certified. Valid driver’s license. Excellent computer skills.
